the MONTESSORI METHOD
It is one of the most complete educational methods in the world. It starts from a simple idea: follow the natural rhythm of development of each child since all human beings develop in the same stages, but at different times. For this reason, each room is a warm environment prepared with exclusively designed materials. A Montessori classroom is unique.
The space is divided into pedagogical areas: sensory, fine and gross motor skills, literature, mathematics, sciences, and art. The furniture and materials are of the highest quality, small in size and natural raw materials that help children to be independent, develop their creativity and, work with others. Each child works at his/her own pace, alone or in a group within very clear structures.
At Mila Vanila, the different areas belong to the British Early Year Foundation Stage (EYFS) with Montessori activities in each of them. This curriculum is the same for all children, but each student has a personalized program.
GAIA PROJECT
It is Mila Vanila’s project for outdoor learning based on the concept of forest schools of Scandinavian countries. According to these, the time that children spend in nature affects the way they behave and learn.
Countless studies indicate that playing and relaxing in a natural environment helps concentration and build self-esteem. When children learn within nature, they become beings capable of regulating their emotions and respecting their environment. All of these are skills necessary for adulthood.
EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Mila Vanila’s emotional development program is based on neuroscience, positive discipline, as well as Montessori´s program of grace and courtesy. From the first day in the kindergarden, children learn the importance of their place in the world, the effects of their actions on others, and how they can respect their environment.
